This week's special guest on LEGACY MAKERS^® was Mike Shoreman. He is a Canadian mental health advocate, bestselling author, and award-winning keynote speaker who made history in 2022 as the first person with a physical disability to paddleboard across all five Great Lakes.

In 2018, Mike's life took an unexpected and devastating turn when he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, a chronic neurological condition that stripped him of his mobility, speech, vision, and hearing. Once a thriving entrepreneur, nationally recognized coach with Paddle Canada, and business leader, he was told he would never paddleboard again. But Mike refused to let that diagnosis define his future.

Not only did he fight his way back, he set an audacious goal: to paddleboard across all five Great Lakes, raising funds and awareness for youth mental health along the way. In doing so, he transformed unimaginable adversity into purpose-driven impact. His story is a powerful reminder that resilience can be built, setbacks do not have to be final, and the extraordinary is possible, even when the odds say otherwise.
